restaurant for wedding.
Posted by curios (1227 days ago)
I am having most of my guests travel from OS to my wedding in Nov in singapore. Im looking for something casual one night for friends - prefer some Asia/Fusion that resembles singapore, and a nice fancy sit down one with family and friends another night. In addition to all that, also a nice brunch/lunch for Sat (prefer buffet style to control the cost)
Any one know any?

do you mean restaurants in singapore?
i don't know what your budget is but here are some of my recommendations:
nice sit-down meal: coriander leaf at clarke quay. www.corianderleaf.com i love this restaurant, been going there since it was first located at the gallery hotel. it's a asian food hub....i love have their divine crab cakes for starters and then their rack of lamb for main and soak up all the lovely juices with delicious butter naan. i actually had my hen's night dinner there. best part is it's located along clarke quay so a variety of places you can go for pre/post dinner drinks.
casual one night : how casual are you looking at? you can try newton hawker centre - touristy 9ie more pricey) but probably more accessible for visitors as location is centralised. or go to the east coast seafood centre...lots of restaurants there for you to try crabs.
nice lunch/brunch: if you are talking champagne brunch, they do it on sundays only..my recommendations are the fullerton hotel and ritx carlton (but not cheap). if you are talking about brunch like big breakfast, yummy salads, etc...try the PS Cafe at Harding Road. Location is beautiful, only problem is they don't take reservations for brunch. it's a lovely location where you can take a walk around the botanics later. if you want a buffet with a view of sorts, try the grand copthorne waterfront's cafe brio...food's not bad, can sit by the river.
talking about ps cafe reminds me of another place you can do casual one night - samy's curry on dempsey road. delicious banana leaf indian dishes in a very interesting setting...wash your dinner down with lots of beer or lime juice. after that, you can try the very reasonable priced wine bars (the wine company and the wine network i think) in that area.
hope this helps, enjoy!!

if you need directions, let me know...i can try to post the links.....
ah, for brunch...you can also try brewerkz (riverside point, opposite clarke quay). it's a microbrewery that serves very cheap beer and good portioned american fare like bbq, burgers, steaks, etc....it's v popular so book if you have a large group! they have a website, try google.

thanks for that wheelymate, coriander leaf looks great, will review menu and get some prices. Now looking for a place for brunch on Sat - possibly buffet style, any ideas?

Had my wedding reception at the ACM, using the terrace above Indochine waterfront (opposite Boat Quay). Lots of overseas guests & everyone loved the location, especially as the party animals could continue the night at Boat Quay bars. I highly recommend Indochine for big group dinner or lunch, better to set the menu in advance with them though to save time & cost. Food & service is excellent.

if indochine is too expensive for the big group lunch/dinner, try siem reap next door - same operator, similar food that is less fancy/cheaper but for the same great view!
