admissability of telephone recordings in court

are recorded telephone calls without the consent of the other party admissible as evidence in HK courts?

Generally they are inadmissible. However, a special application can be made to the judge on the admissibility and he may rule that they are admissible. This is usually how the ICAC gets surveillance evidence into court.

I might be wrong but as far as I know, when you record anything like phone convo or a meeting where you are part of it then its admissble in court. shoe girl is right but only in cases of evesdropping, where the ICAC is tapping phones of other people, then you neeed court order.
I am not sure of the laws in HK but I did my law degree in UK and practiced it in other country and this is how it goes.
The basic important point is that ONE of the people involved in the conversation KNNOWS that the conversation is being recorded.
