Debt Collectors / Triads Posted by tko (419 days ago) Recently there has been a debt collector coming by our home and ringing our intercom looking for the previous tenant. The guards downstairs have already been informed and they understand we are worried about our young son's safety. Although, they can only do so much, is there anything that my husband and I could do...like file a complaint against the debt collection agency? We had a similar problem a few years ago when debt collectors were calling our home number looking for the previous user. We called the police and the police called the debt collectors and told them whoever they were looking for weren't using this number anymore and they never called again. (I am based in Unspecified) Posted by associates (416 days ago) Definitely, you can write a complaint to the collection agency or the institution which designated the agency (e.g. the bank or mobile service company, etc). If they fail to provide a constuctive reply within a given period (say 7 days) or continue to make attempts to collect the debt, you can report to the police and the Consumer Council. As well we have had good results with a well crafted lawyer's letter. (I am based in Hong Kong) |
