The Club was founded in 1972 by the late Lim Kwa Chwee sensei and from its humble beginnings the Club has progrssed much over the past 27 years. Besides organising regular national competitions, the Club has hosted regional events such as the ASEAN Kendo Championships with competitors from various South-East Asian countries. The Club has regularly participated in the World Kendo Championships, the last being held in Kyoto, 1997.
Since its inception, the Club has been awarded National Sports Association status by the National Sports Council of Singapore. As such, it is the controlling body of Kendo in Singapore and is an affiliated member of the International Kendo Federation.
Today, the Club stands strong with members of various nationalities practicing the Way of the Sword under one roof.
